The Euroasia style

At Euroasia, we’ve evolved our own way of teaching, our own way of operating.  It’s the Euroasia style.

The Euroasia style - teaching

classHaving been in the business since 2000, we’ve had plenty of opportunities to reflect on what works and what doesn’t work – and make adjustments accordingly.  We know that most of our clients are busy professionals, come to us after work, and don’t have that much time to spend learning a language.  We also know that learning a language is not that easy, especially if you’re tackling a foreign language for the first time.  One thing we don’t offer is magic solutions, or guarantees that you will be speaking your target language like a native in no time at all.  It doesn’t work quite like that.

What we want is to give you a great experience of learning a language and a sense of achievement, regardless of the point at which you stop.  We really want you to make the most of your time with us, and learn as much useful language as you can.  We also hope you will benefit from the time spent with our lively staff and your interesting fellow students!

First of all, we have our introductory courses (Level 1):

  • Approach the language gently
  • Learn the vocabulary and the phrases you need in everyday situations
  • Lots of listening and speaking, not much writing
  • Look at the culture and the people
  • Avoid difficult grammar
  • Enjoy a variety of lively activities
  • Relaxed and friendly atmosphere

We want you to have a positive experience when you start learning a language.  Enjoy it!  If that’s all you want to do, that’s fine.  You may not have become a fluent speaker, but you will have learnt a lot about a new language and a new culture. Check out our upcoming Level 1 courses.

Then, if you want to carry on, and of course we hope that many of you will, our continuation courses (Levels 2 to 6) start to approach things a bit differently:

  • Start to look more at the structures of the language (but still practise in lively and interesting ways)
  • Expand the range of situations you are able to handle in your chosen language
  • Plenty of practice with speaking and listening
  • Some reading and writing introduced
  • Work towards clearly identified goals
  • Material provided for optional, extra study between classes

And apart from the teaching?  Well, Euroasia is about:

  • Meeting like-minded people in a pleasant ambiance
  • Getting together for social activities
  • Networking with people from many different walks of life
  • Letting the imagination flow freely
  • Just for a little while, exchanging New Zealand for places foreign and exciting
