Euroasia is perhaps unique in that we do not merely accept documents and translate them: we also indicate at the outset whether we believe translation is really appropriate. In some cases, a different type of document might be better; for example, a translated brochure may not be the most effective way to reach a certain market, or a one-size-fits-all approach may not work for all markets. We believe our background in cross-cultural consultancy and language training equips us to provide this kind of advice. When translating, we also ensure that any cultural implications concealed within language are not “lost in translation”.

Euroasia specialises in providing quality translations for business or government. So that we do not get distracted with smaller retail jobs, Euroasia does not provide on-the-spot translations of short documents such as qualifications, driving licences etc. for official purposes.

What is the translation process?

The translation process is a collaborative exercise between Euroasia and the client; this can be divided into three broad steps. They are:

  1. Preparation. The source text (usually in English) is prepared and evaluated for readability, clarity and cultural appropriateness (completed by client)
  2. Translation. The initial translation is performed (completed by Euroasia)
  3. Quality assurance. The translation is given to a second translator for QA (completed by Euroasia).

Prior to the assignment of work to the translator:

The client should review the document to be translated to ensure:
•    Appropriate reading level for the target audience
•    The language is simple and clear (short sentences preferable)
•    Messages and illustrations are culturally appropriate
•    Document is appropriately formatted

How much doES it COST?

Our minimum fee is $100 + GST per job.  The actual cost of translation and the time it takes is dependent on the following factors:

  1. Language: Certain European and Pacific Island languages attract premium charges because there are not many professional translators around for some languages.
  2. Type of document: Documents containing technical/complex content (eg scientific papers, journal articles, legal contracts, patents) are more expensive to translate than standard documents (eg. brochures, websites).
  3. Number of words: We offer a volume discount for large jobs (approx 8000 words and above).
  4. Urgency: Should you require immediate turnaround (say overnight), this is possible as we use translators in different time zones who can continue working after standard office hours. Do call us to discuss, but we may have to charge an urgency fee of 10-20% of the total cost of the job.
  5. Format required: We normally work from Word/Excel. If you require us to work from a non-standard document (Photoshop/Access database) or to lay out a brochure/website/business card, this will be charged separately.
